Right through that concrete wall

Stumbled across Zee Avi's new album on yesterday's Gossip Girl episode. This song from the Ghostbird is beautiful, even if it is about a relationship in ruins.

Leave it to the mid-season finale of Gossip Girl to give me such a haunting and beautiful song.

Some favourites from a busy week:

1. My favourite cup & saucer
2. White Rock, BC
3-4 Wilfred silk shorts, Wilfred bustier dress - Aritzia
5. Wispy clouds on a unusually cold summer day
6. Dreamy photos from my Diana Mini
7. 2 sizes too big for me chiffon top from Jacob

Are there ever songs that make you linger onto your daydreams? That's how I feel when this song plays, and this unofficial music video suits that daydream mood perfectly:

Happy 125th, Vancouver!

Vancouver turns 125 this year (as of April 6th), and one of the biggest celebrations shared with local Vancouverites was Summer Live - 3 full days of free outdoor concerts with musicians and bands like Mother Mother, Dan Mangan, Hey Ocean!, the New Pornographers, and We Are the City on the stages. Held in our beautiful Stanley Park, I went only on the last day but it was so much fun!

Stanley Park // Sandals from Spring // My best frd & her crazy fishbraiding skills (I could never do that!)

The best part was Dan.

This song is soooo addictive! It's one of those if-i-had-a-convertible-i'd-sing-it-with-my-hands-in-the-air summer songs. Although the song meaning isn't that pleasant (an angry teen going on a deadly rampage), it's got a nice beat to it. Plus the picture for this video? Awesome. AWESOME.

Gastown - Water Street & Cambie

I took this picture one morning during a Gastown walk for a Photo assignment, and there was this cheerful guy just strumming his guitar away like it was the only thing that mattered to him - as if in that one moment, there really wasn't anything else more time-sensitive, more urgent than to make music. I'll always remember it because he was so carefree and happy. I think we need to enjoy more moments like this.

Songs currently on iTunes repeat:
I'm Not Calling You A Liar - Florence + the Machine
Falling in Love at a Coffee Shop - Landon Pigg
Bones - Swear and Shake
And You Give - Matthew Barber
Yours to Keep - Teddy Bears
Firework cover - Kina Grannis
Red Cape - Priscilla Ahn

My 2-week Spring Break has officially started! Woohooooooo!!! On my Spring Break to-do list is FINISH MY PROM DRESS (gulp). I'll post a few sketches and fabric swaps soon. Anybody else on a spring break: I hope you have a happy one.

Another task on my to-do list is to finish making Japan flag pins for the Hope for Japan campaign and fundraiser we have going on at my school. I've been keeping updated via CNN's videos, which are very resourceful. I highly encourage anybody with a campaign idea/project to raise funds, raise awareness, or help Japan in any other way to share those ideas with others & make a difference!

My art room // Holt Renfrew pictures 3 - 6 // Pacific Centre // Art classroom // Me + bestie // Bedroom // My best frds! xox

What a crazy week. High school senior year is definitely a gongshow but with friends like mine, it's... bearable ;) From shopping at Holts and pretending we can afford clothes like that awesome Rebecca Taylor leopard print tee (haha - I wish!) to rapping Nicki Minaj's Super Bass all night + all morning, these are the memories I don't ever want to forget.

A breath to take, a choice to make

David Thompson Secondary courtyard

Songs currently played during my midterm studies:
Food is Still Hot - Karen O and the Kids
The Music - Paper Route
Intro - The XX
Cat Piano - Seabear
Comptine d'un autre ete (l'apres midi) - Yann Tiersen
Interlude - +44
Love and Mathematics - Broken Social Scene
Saeglopur - Sigur Ros
La ritournelle - Sebastien Tellier

Everyone always seems to sigh and almost shudder when they hear the words final, midterm or (dare I say it...) exam. But I think having exams is a good way to remember that stress is a reaction by choice, and my midterms right now just allow me to further exercise that choice.
